Hi Guys! My name is Em Shotwell and I hail from south Louisiana. I write Magical Realism featuring lovable weirdos and misplaced misfits. My characters come from small southern towns, and will bless your heart (then kick your ass). My debut novel is titled BLACKBIRD SUMMER and is available in all formats (including hard cover) online wherever books are sold. But more about that in a minute.
I think this is the part where I tell you a little bit about myself. Weird.
Here are some non-writerly-random-facts:
-Angsty teen romance novels have nothing on my adolescent years. Seriously- I started dating my now husband when I was 17…two weeks before I was diagnosed with cancer. Pink wig. Rebellious spirit. Issues. Therapy. Yep. All of that and more.
-I am a foster care advocate and former foster parent. I have written articles and spoken at events about this subject that is near and dear to my heart.
-I am a complete whovian. I used to blame it on my kids…but nope. It’s me. I’m the reason that the Shotwell house is always watching The Doctor. J
-I am a wife to a husband who gets my very weird sense of humor, and the mother to two amazing mini-men. I have a puppy named Gryffin who worships me and a cat named Cashew who is secretly trying to kill me.
