This has got to be the best damn $3 I’ve ever spent.

Lady Cranfield lives in a prison of traumatic stress over the carriage accident that killed her husband. Now terrified of horses, she’s pretty much stuck in the house.–until she meets the Earl of Ruel, an accomplished rider who promises to help her learn to trust horses again IF she agrees to obey him as his submissive for one month. She’s self-contained, proud and a bit bull-headed but trying to follow Ruel’s rules. The love story unfolds beautifully from there.

I don’t even like historical fiction, but Natasha Blackthorne writes one helluva steamy tear-jerker. Though she writes a “I’m no expert on PTSD” disclaimer in the front of the book, I think I can say she pretty much hit the nail on the anxiety head. I’ve struggled with it for years, and I thought Blackthorne captured the frustration and humiliation in dealing with it perfectly. PERFECTLY.

I went back and forth between 4.5 and 5 stars on this one. I did cry. A lot. So I rated this 5-stars on Goodreads and Amazon.
